Creative/Modern Dance in the style of Isadora Duncan
Date: TBDAges: 5-8
Instructor: Kelly Armbrust
In this class, students will be introduced to the work of Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance. Though basic dance concepts and terminology may be introduced, our focus will be on cultivating the qualities we wish to see and express in the dance. We will explore musicality as well as natural movements such as gesturing, walking, running, skipping and leaping. And we will work toward performing these movements joyfully, beautifully and expressively. We will dance to classical music as well as poetry, as Duncan believed that children should be surrounded by all that is beautiful and good. Silk tunics will be provided for class. Please wear a leotard or tank top and leggings, footless tights or shorts to go underneath.
Class is limited to 8 students so pre-registration is recommended.

Join our community of parents who are seeking a mindful and intentional way to connect with their 0-5 year old child through music and movement. Reawaken your creative spirit in this process-oriented class, and become inspired by the childlike sense of wonder and awe within both yourself and your child. Parents and children alike will be involved in a unique blend of creating & responding with movement and music as our vehicles. Much of the class will be inspired by Dalcroze Eurythmics, Laban Movement, and the research of Dr. John Feierabend, a leading authority on music and movement development in early childhood. No experience in music or movement necessary. If you can walk you can dance, if you can talk you can sing. -Zimbabwean proverb.
