Your first visit will begin with a detailed assessment of your condition and an initial acupuncture treatment. The first intake and treatment usually takes 90 minutes, depending on your condition. Follow up sessions typically last approximately 60 minutes.
During the initial assessment, you may be asked about things that may not seem connected to your chief complaint, such as your emotions, sleep, and digestion. Chinese medicine takes the whole person into account, not just isolated symptoms. When combined, your acupuncturist can determine underlying patterns of disharmony.
Acupuncture needles are sterile, disposable, and extremely thin. The insertion is painless for most patients. Many patients experience a relaxed and peaceful state during the session, and many people fall asleep.
